Our Environmental and Sustainability Policy

Challenge EDI (Challenge Training and Consulting Ltd) provides a range of equality and diversity training and consultancy services to clients including government departments and voluntary organisations.
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods, with regular review points.
Through implementing this policy, we aim to minimise our own environmental impact and encourage good environmental practice amongst our peers and stakeholders.
Responsibility
The leadership team is responsible for ensuring that this policy is implemented. All employees and Associate Trainers have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
Scope
This policy applies to all our operations including office activities, travel and the training and consultancy activities and events organised and delivered by our staff and Associate Trainers.
Objectives
To reduce our impact on the environment and continually improve performance, we have set the following objectives for 2019:
Paper – we will:
- minimise the use of paper in the office
- reduce packaging as much as possible
- seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products
- reuse and recycle all paper where possible
- take environmental considerations into account when planning training events, for example, we will suggest that, where possible, training materials be delivered electronically
Energy and water – we will:
seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible.
Switch off lights and electrical equipment when not in use.
Adjust heating with energy consumption in mind.
take environmental and ethical considerations into account in purchasing decisions, for example purchasing energy efficient equipment.
Office supplies – we will:
evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase.
favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products wherever possible.
reuse and recycle everything we are able to.
Transportation – we will:
encourage alternatives to car and air travel, such as low-carbon travelling and video conferencing
Maintenance and cleaning – we will:
use environmentally friendly cleaning materials whenever possible
set up a system for recycling of paper, cardboard, plastics and cans.
Monitoring and improvement – we will:
comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements.
continually improve and monitor environmental performance.
continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.
incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.
increase employee awareness through training.
update this policy annually in consultation with staff and review our environmental performance quarterly.
Culture – we will:
involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.
undertake awareness raising activities with our staff and associates to involve them in implementing an environmental action plan.
provide staff with relevant environmental training.
Communication
We communicate this policy and our environmental initiatives to our staff and Associates through inductions, training, signage and awareness raising initiatives. All Challenge staff and Associates have a responsibility to ensure that the objectives of this policy are met.
Review
Environmental performance and procedures will be discussed regularly at team meetings, and this policy and progress against the objectives set will be reviewed quarterly and formally evaluated annually.
